Job summary

Thrive Group Canada is seeking a Casual Personal Attendant to join our AbleLiving Community in East Hamilton. The role provides personal support, light housekeeping, and life-skills assistance to clients living at home or in facilities, helping them stay independent.

Under supervision, you’ll escort clients to appointments, assist with personal care, and perform tasks according to client contracts and regulations. The position offers benefits and a $500 signing bonus.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering personal support services to people with disabilities or seniors.
  • Strong English communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and light housekeeping to help clients stay at home.
  • Escort clients to appointments and assist with life skills.
  • Support clients in daily routines and maintain client contracts.

Job description

We are currently hiring a Casual Personal Attendant to join our AbleLiving Community program in the East Hamilton area. This location is accessible by public transit. This program operates 24/7.

AbleLiving Services is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. Our clients direct and customize the services they receive and we support them to maximize their independence and enhance their quality of life. We provide services across the Golden Horseshoe in the Mississauga, Burlington, Hamilton, Brant, and Haldimand-Norfolk communities.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the program supervisor, this position is responsible for providing personal support services, life-skills support and light housekeeping duties to enable clients to remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible. Duties include assisting clients with personal care, arranging and escorting clients to appointments, and housekeeping services. Such duties are carried out under the direction of the client or alternate decision maker and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws and regulations governing service provision

Requirements
  • Experience in the provision of personal support services to people with disabilities and/or seniors are requirements for this position.
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential. Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are requirements. Able to communicate in other languages is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively. Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential. Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check is required.
Job Type: Casual
Starting Hourly Rate: $24.00
