Job summary

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Page ensures materials are on shelves, assists customers, and supports tidying, displays, program prep, check-in/out, and shipment handling. The role includes light copy work and occasional challenging interactions, with a physical component.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 or GED required.
  • Customer service experience and a passion for helping others.
  • Belief in the importance of literacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage conflict and diffuse difficult patron situations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift 20-25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly customer service and direct patrons to materials.
  • Ensure materials are shelved and available for customers and staff.
  • Assist with tidying, displays, and program prep.
  • Check in/out library materials and handle shipments.
  • Explain directions and answer information questions to patrons.
  • Perform photocopying and assist with routine displays.
  • This role involves interactions with the public and physical tasks.

We are seekingCasual Pagesat theKamloops Librarieswho will create a welcoming environment and a superb library experience for all.

Reporting to the Team Lead, thisposition ensures that materials are on the shelves for customers and staff to find. The Page helps direct customers to the things they want and provides good customer service. Other duties include tidying, preparation of displays and programs, checking in/out library materials, and packing/unpacking shipments. Other responsibilities include cleaning and minor preparation of routine displays of library material, clearing abandoned material from public areas, answering directional questions and referring information questions to appropriate staff, photocopying materials, and checking in/out library materials. The Page also interacts with the public and may occasionally deal with challenging situations.There is also a physical component to this position

The casual Page position requires a flexible schedule, as shifts will vary, including daytime, evening, and weekend work. Work may be scheduled in advance as well as on short notice. There are no guaranteed hours. Availability is required within the Casual Availability Form and changes to availability must align with Article 30 and Appendix 7 of the BCGEU Collective Agreement.

This posting will remain open and active until all vacancies are filled and the Casual pool is replenished.

The position is subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the BC General Employees' Union, Local 705.

The Page position is a Pay Grid Level 3 which is $19.70 - $21.75/hour (2025 rates).Non-benefitted staff receive 18.2%-21.2% in lieu ofannual vacation, statutory holidays, sick leave, and benefits as per Article 25.8.

The TNRD requires that all successful applicants undergo a Criminal Record Check.
