JOB DESCRIPTION:

Title: Casual On Call Back-Up Secretary
Location: OPSEU/SEFPO Ottawa Regional Office (Region 4), Negotiations Division, 2525 St Laurent Blvd, Suite 103, Ottawa, ON, K1H 8P5

Reporting to: Supervisor, Regions 3 & 4
Salary:$1,349.00 to $1,401.00 per week pro-rated to number of days worked (Range 4 – Support)
Working Conditions: As provided in the OPSSU/OPSEU/SEFPO Collective Agreement

OPSEU/SEFPO represents approximately 180,000 members across Ontario. They are full- and part-time workers, young and old. They trace their ancestry to all parts of the globe – as diverse a group as you could imagine. Our members work for the Ontario government, inside community colleges, for the LCBO, in the health care sector, and they are employed in a wide range of community agencies within the broader public sector.

Under the general direction of the Supervisor, provides secretarial and clerical support services to the Regional Office which include but are not limited to:

  • Database input
  • Opening and tracking files
  • Dealing with general inquiries from members
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • One-year Community College Certificate/Diploma and two years related work experience (or an equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • Knowledge of office management principles and ability to follow office policies and procedures
  • Understanding of and commitment to labour movement and social democratic philosophy
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships
  • Requires intermediate computer skills including experience with software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Requires tact and diplomacy skills
