Job summary

The City of Lacombe invites applications for a Lifeguard/Program Assistant at the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre. You will perform lifeguarding, instruction and custodial duties, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable facility for all users, with evening and weekend shifts.

Qualifications include National Lifeguard, Intermediate First Aid, Lifesaving Swim Instructor, WHMIS, and related certifications; wage starts at $21.54 per hour with a $1.02 extra for nights and weekends, plus a free annual pool pass.

Qualifications

• National Lifeguard certification is required.
• Intermediate First Aid certification is required.
• Lifesaving Swim Instructor certification is required.
• Water Fitness Instructor is a plus.

Job description

We are looking for dynamic individuals wanting a flexible work schedule (year-round) to join the team at the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor/designate, this position performs lifeguarding, instruction and custodial work involving responsibility for the safety of all users of a public swimming facility. The focus and goal of the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre (KAC) is to provide a safe, clean, fun environment while adhering to its vision, mission and values. These positions will be primarily scheduled for evenings and weekends and must attend an in-service training once per month.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Delivery of Aquatic Programs
• Monitor pool and related activities of patrons to ensure safety regulations and compliance with policy and procedures
• Provision of excellent customer service
• Other related duties as assigned

In addition to your excellent wage, you will also receive:

• $1.02/hr shift differential for hours worked between 6 PM and 7 AM and for all hours worked on weekends (Friday 6pm - Monday 7am) when required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 15 years of age
• National Lifeguard
• Intermediate First Aid
• Lifesaving Swim Instructor
• Water Fitness Instructor (as asset)
• WHMIS
• LSI and Sport Coach (an asset)

Wage and Benefits: $21.54 - $26.92 per hour dependent upon experience.
