Job summary

Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is seeking a Casual Library Technician to operate the Learning Commons, promote literacy, and support technology initiatives across schools.

The role requires a Library Technician Diploma and about 2 years of related experience, plus familiarity with Insignia, Google Suite, and AV equipment. Collaboration with staff and volunteers is essential; on-call availability is expected.

Qualifications

Job Description:

• Operates the school Learning Commons and provides services in an automated/digital environment to meet the needs of staff and students;
• Promotes authors, books, literacy, technology and holds special events;
• Performs administrative functions associated with the Learning Commons and/or school;
• Coordinates volunteers’ activities;
• Performs other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree/diploma in relevant field (i.e. Library Technician, Information Science, etc);
• 2 years of related experience;
• Expertise with Insignia (or similar library software systems), Google Suite, Computer hardware and software, mobile technology, various AV equipment;
• Comfortable learning and promoting new technologies (3D printing, robotics, coding, Cricut, etc.);
• Positive team player and ability to work independently;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
• Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered;
• The use of a personal vehicle may be required.

Status:

Casual Library Technicians must be available to work on call during regular school hours.

Annual (or Hourly) Salary:

Hourly wage of $32.64 plus 4% in lieu of vacation.
