Job summary

Autism Services is seeking a reliable maintenance/janitorial staff member to perform cleaning, waste removal, and grounds maintenance across our facilities. The role involves operating cleaning equipment and tools, plus basic event setup and teardown.

Applicants should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, hold a Grade 12 or GED, and have valid driver’s license. First Aid/CPR C and WHMIS are required, with weekend, holiday, and night availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED equivalent.
• First Aid & CPR C Level.
• WHMIS certification.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Janitorial and cleaning duties across facilities, including sweeping, washing, and waxing floors.
• Vacuums carpeted areas and cleans public and private washrooms and change rooms.
• Removes waste and performs outdoor grounds maintenance.
• Performs snow and ice removal and operates floor cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Lifts, carries, and places materials and operates hand tools and power tools.
• Assist with special event setup and dismantling; maintain tools and equipment.

Job description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Janitorial and cleaning services such as:
• Sweeping, washing, and waxing floors
• Vacuums carpeted areas
• Cleans public and private washrooms and change rooms
• Remove waste
• Performs outdoors grounds maintenance
• Perform snow and ice removal
• Labour tasks on maintenance projects including:
• Lifting, carrying, and placing materials
• Operating hand tools
• Operating equipment such as floor cleaning and surfacing equipment and grounds maintenance equipment
• Operating power tools
• Special event set-up and dismantling
• General care of assigned tools and equipment
• Detailed record keeping of materials, time sheets, general repairs needed, and tasks performed
• Promotes and maintains positive public relations
• Performing all duties in a safety conscious manner.
