Job summary

Interior Health's Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC, is seeking a Casual Laboratory Clerk to join the team. The role supports clerical and reception duties, with shifts across days and evenings and rotating days off.

You will handle data entry into LIS, process patient samples, manage inventories, and maintain records, with opportunities to grow from casual to permanent roles; candidates should have a typing test and Medical Terminology certificate.

Qualifications

• Typing test with 45+ NWPM completed within 48 months.
• Medical Terminology Certificate.
• Resume outlining two years of related experience or equivalent.
• Cover Letter stating availability for casual/on-call work.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments, data entry, filing, telephoning, faxing, and invoicing.
• Enter patient data and test entries into the LIS.
• Receive, process, and centrifuge patient samples per procedures.
• Prioritize workflow and package samples for send-out per regulations.
• Mail and distribute patient reports as required.
• Distribute, file, retrieve, and dispose of laboratory specimens and blocks.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and records (standing orders, temperatures, logs).
• Perform other related duties as required.
