Job summary

Near North District School Board is hiring Casual Educational Assistants at Whitewoods Public School in Sturgeon Falls to support students with diverse needs within a special education setting. The role involves assisting with autism, developmental and physical disabilities, implementing programming with teachers and therapists, delivering therapy goals, sensory breaks and outings.

Rate of pay is $20.80 per hour plus 4% vacation pay; applicants must be eligible to work in Canada and work

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field.
• Experience working with diverse student exceptionalities including autism and physical disabilities.
• Knowledge of ABA, behaviour management systems, CPS and augmentative communication.
• Ability to work with a school-based team and implement programming with teachers and therapists.

Responsibilities

• Deliver supports in a special education program as part of a team.
• Assist with therapy goals, sensory breaks, and toileting support.
• Support communication needs and outings.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, central behavioural support, and therapists.

Effective Immediately

The Educational Assistant duties of this position are likely to include, but are not limited to, working with students with autism, behaviouralexceptionalities,physicaland developmentaldisabilities.The positionwillinvolve working as a team member in a special education program, delivering alternative program goals, therapy goals, sensory breaks, toileting support, communication needs, and outings.

Qualifications:

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities
• Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies includingABA(Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems,CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication
• Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transitionand/orimplement programmingin consultation withclassroomteacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapistsi.e.speech, sensory, occupational,physiotherapy
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team

Rate of Pay: $20.80 plus 4% vacation pay and applicable statutory holiday pay
