Job summary

St. Clair Catholic District School Board is seeking a Casual/Call-in Educational Assistant to support individual students or groups identified through site-based special education.

The role involves assisting with personal care, implementing instruction programs, and collaborating with teachers and school staff in a caring, professional manner. The ideal candidate will have a relevant 2-year program in childhood education and experience working with children, including those diagnosed with

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year Program related to Childhood Education (e.g., Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Early Childhood Educator, Child and Youth Care).
• Other diplomas/degrees may be considered in fields related to supporting vulnerable populations and/or individuals with special education needs.
• Education and experience working with children diagnosed with Autism is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students that may have physical, developmental, medical, communication and/or behaviour needs.
• Supervise and implement daily routines.
• Implement teacher-designed instruction programs.
• Attend to physical care needs of students (toileting, feeding, positioning).
• Work as part of the school team and communicate with teachers and students as appropriate.
