Job summary

School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert, BC) is seeking a Casual On-Call Education Assistant to support students with special needs under the supervision of a classroom teacher. The position suits individuals who are flexible and available on short notice.

You will provide direct instructional support, assist with personal care and communication needs, collaborate with the school-based team on IEPs, accompany students on field trips, and help with life skills programs as needed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• EA1/EA2 qualifications preferred.
• First Aid/CPR training or willingness to obtain.
• Training in childhood and special needs education is beneficial.
• Computer literacy with at least 30 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional support to individual students or small groups.
• Assist students with personal, behavioral, and communication needs.
• Supervise and/or assist with personal care, hygiene, and toileting as required.
• Administer medical needs as instructed.
• Prepare and modify instructional materials as directed by the teacher.

• Perform other duties as assigned, including noon-hour supervision.
