Job summary

Coaldale & District Handi-Ride seeks a reliable, compassionate Casual Contract Driver to transport passengers within Coaldale and nearby communities using a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. The role emphasizes safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service to support individuals with mobility challenges.

The position is casual/temporary with potential for future part-time or full-time opportunities as service needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Class 4 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• S Endorsement or willingness and ability to obtain it.
• Experience as a driver or providing transportation services preferred but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal, compassionate, patient demeanor.
• Flexibility to work variable hours including mornings, evenings, weekends.
• Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening if required.
• Able to complete all physical requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to transport passengers.
• Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including mobility aids.
• Secure wheelchairs, walkers and mobility devices per safety procedures.
• Perform physical duties such as lifting, pushing, pulling and bending as needed.
• Keep the vehicle clean and maintain regular inspections and schedules.
• Follow established routes and adapt to schedule changes when required.
• Answer calls and inquiries while the vehicle is inactive.
• Communicate respectfully to ensure passenger comfort and dignity.
• Uphold professionalism, punctuality, safety and customer service standards.
• Comply with Safety Program and applicable laws including Alberta OHSA.
