Job summary

Pathways is seeking two Casual Counsellors, Developmental Services to support adults with a developmental disability in living arrangements and community integration. You will implement flexible supports aligned with each person’s Quality-of-Life plan and work with the person’s support team to promote rights, self-determination, and independence.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in human services or related field.
• Specialized education, training or certification in developmental disabilities, disability studies, behaviour management, social work, or psychology.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Proof of completion of an approved Pharmacology course.
• Continuing education in dual diagnosis, behaviour management or mental health is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement flexible supports per the Quality-of-Life plan (QLP).
• Collaborate with the support team to coach the client toward personal and community living skills.
• Ensure established strategies and behaviour management programs are followed.
• Maintain accurate client information and documentation.
• Promote a positive team environment and ensure regular attendance.
• Shifts are typically 12 hours long, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
