Job summary

Pathways to Independence in Emily is seeking a Full-Time Temporary Support Worker (up to 12 months) to provide assisted living support for adults with developmental disabilities. Shifts are 12 hours and include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Under the supervision of the Client Services Manager, you will help with homemaking, personal care, community activities, and skill development per each person’s Quality of Life Plan, while keeping client information accurate and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Secondary School graduation is required.
• Post-secondary certificate in Human or Health Services is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide assisted living support for adults with developmental disabilities.
• Assist with homemaking, personal care, and community activities.
• Support development of personal and social skills per Quality of Life Plan.
• Implement strategies under supervision of Manager and Counsellor.
• Promote rights, choices, self-determination and independence.
• Maintain accurate client information and documentation.
• Participate in a positive team environment and ensure safety.
• Work 12-hour shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Pathways to Independence requires one (1) Full-Time Temporary Support Worker (up to 12 months) to provide assisted living support for adults with a developmental disability.

Under the direction of the Client Services Manager, the Support Worker supports adults with homemaking, personal care, community, and personal development skills in accordance with the person’s Quality of Life Plan (QLP). The Support Worker will implement established strategies under the general direction of the Manager and Counsellor. The Support Worker ensures that the person’s services and supports promote their rights, choices, self‑determination, independence and builds personal and community living skills.

The successful candidate must have the following skills/qualifications:

• Secondary School graduation and minimum one-year post‑secondary certificate in Human or Health Services; (Proof of education is a condition of employment).
• Continuing education in developmental disabilities an asset.
• Current First Aid and CPR.

Ideal candidates will also have experience and abilities aligned with the key responsibilities, which includes:

• Demonstrate a person‑centered philosophy and commitment to agency vision, mission, and guiding principles.
• Experience working with adults with a developmental disability in a community based, group living or independent living environment.
• Provide effective services and supports to supported persons.
• Manage and maintain accurate client information and documentation.
• Participate in and ensure a positive team environment.
• Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
