Job summary

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is seeking a casual, as-needed Child Care Supply to support locations in Collingwood and Stayner. The role emphasizes quality play‑based learning, safe supervision of up to 15 children, and strong family communication.

Applicants must be 18+, hold First Aid/CPR certification (or complete within 90 days), pass a Vulnerable Sector Check, and meet immunization requirements. Availability for specific shifts and outdoor activity is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification OR completion within first 90 days of employment.
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent per local public health and Child Care Early Years Act.
• Required availability: two shifts per week OR two full days per week OR one full day per week with additional openings/closings.
• Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
• Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills with families, staff and volunteers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and participate in physical activities.
• Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round, in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to children, including toileting/diaper changes, first aid, medication administration, and monitoring of dietary, allergies and medical conditions.
• Supervise and engage with up to 15 children in a group setting.
• Plan and implement play-based learning per YMCA Curriculum.
• Maintain positive, professional communication with families, staff and volunteers.
• Create an inclusive environment supporting children with exceptional behaviours and additional needs.
• Model behaviours aligned with Mission, Vision and Values; adhere to schedules and ratios.
• Adapt to routines and schedules with flexibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
