Job summary

The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is seeking Casual Caretakers to support cleaning, maintenance and safety across multiple school locations in Ottawa. This on-call role requires availability days, evenings, or Saturdays.

Applicants should have some secondary education, at least one year of related experience, basic mechanical knowledge, WHMIS training, and a valid vehicle. The position offers an hourly wage with vacation in lieu and on-site responsibilities.

Job Description:

The Caretaker:

• performs cleaning and general maintenance of school interior/exterior, in accordance with established standards;
• performs daily routine security and safety checks;
• performs other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Some secondary school education where the ability to read and write has been developed;
• one year of related work experience;
• basic knowledge of mechanical systems;
• knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and its regulations;
• ability to work independently, performing physically strenuous work;
• a personal vehicle will be required.

Status:

Casual Caretakers work on-call and must be available days, evenings, or Saturdays at various school locations.

Annual (or Hourly) Salary:

$20.70/hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation. The hourly wage effective as of September 1st, 2025, is $21.70/hour.
