Job summary

The Ottawa Catholic School Board seeks a Casual Caretaker to perform cleaning and general maintenance of school facilities, conduct daily security checks, and handle other duties as assigned. The role is on-call across various school locations and requires a vehicle.

Wage starts at $20.70/hour with 4% vacation in lieu; as of Sept 1, 2025, the hourly rate is $21.70. Casual Caretakers work on-call days, evenings, or Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Some secondary school education where the ability to read and write has been developed.
• one year of related work experience; willingness to perform physically strenuous work.
• basic knowledge of mechanical systems and ability to work independently.
• knowledge of WHMIS and its regulations.
• a personal vehicle will be required.

Required Qualifications

• Some secondary school education where the ability to read and write has been developed;
• one year of related work experience;
• basic knowledge of mechanical systems;
• knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and its regulations;
• ability to work independently, performing physically strenuous work;
• a personal vehicle will be required.

Status: Casual Caretakers work on-call and must be available days, evenings, or Saturdays at various school locations.

Annual (or Hourly) Salary: $20.70/hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation. The hourly wage effective as of September 1st, 2025, is $21.70/hour.
