Job summary

Autism Services requires a maintenance position to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility's systems and equipment, enabling a comfortable environment for patrons.

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, duties include ice production, HVAC and ice plant upkeep, system monitoring, and performing various preventative maintenance tasks along with event setup and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent; post-secondary education or certification in related field preferred.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
• RCMP security clearance including vulnerable sector clearance.
• Ability to work shift evenings and weekends.

• Maintenance tasks: plumbing, lighting fixtures, hardware, ceiling tiles, painting, preventative maintenance.

• Operate machinery such as skid steer, tool cat, ice resurfacer and similar equipment.

Job description

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, this position will attend to a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure that the facilitys building systems and equipment are operating safely and efficiently in order to provide a comfortable environment for the patrons of the building.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Make and maintain arena ice.
• General maintenance of building systems including HVAC, and ice plant.
• Monitoring facility operating systems and reporting situations that require attention.
• Maintenance tasks including plumbing, lighting fixtures, hardware, ceiling tiles, painting, and tasks generally associated with preventative maintenance practices.
• Performing operational tasks such as set-up and take-down duties for various events and functions, parking lot and exterior building maintenance.
• Operate required machinery, including skid steer, tool cat, ice resurfacer, and similar equipment.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalency, with preference for post-secondary education or certification in a related field, experience working in an ice arena environment is an asset.
• Refrigeration Operator License (ticket), Firemans Boiler Operator, Refrigeration Engineer (Class 4) or BOMI Building Systems Maintenance Certificate would be considered an asset.
• Ability to work shift work, evenings and weekends.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Drivers license.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
• Possess and maintain RCMP security clearance, including vulnerable sector clearance.
