Canlan Ice Sports – Ice Maintenance Person (non‑ticketed)

Canlan Sports is the largest private sector owner and operator of recreational sports complexes in North America. The company's success is attributed to innovative programming, service delivery leadership and world‑class sports complexes.

The Ice Maintenance Person is a proactive and hands‑on individual who performs general maintenance to ensure facility upkeep and regular flooding of ice rinks is completed in a timely and safe manner. Responsibilities include ice resurfacing and edging (operating the Ice Resurfacer), janitorial work and general facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes.
• Ice maintenance tasks: operation of Ice Resurfacer and Edger, ice depth measurement, ice chopping/spudding, leveling the ice, ice painting.
• Maintain Dasher Board system and Arena Glass replacement, refurbish hockey nets.
• Execute maintenance and repair of facility fixtures and components.
• Janitorial duties: vacuuming, auto‑scrubbing, waxing and buffing per floor‑care procedures.
• Keep entrances, grounds and parking safe: property cleanup, grass cutting, seasonal snow and debris removal.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment: safety checks, cleaning, waxing of Ice Resurfacer, blade changes, grease machine.
• Maintain checklists, records and reports, including Ice Resurfacer sign‑out/safety check.

Qualifications and Education

• Completed high school education or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license (preferred).

Abilities, Attributes and Experience

• Previous experience, training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.
• Approachable, team‑oriented with strong communication skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude (preferred).
• Trade or janitorial experience is an advantage.
• Organised, self‑motivated and proactive.
