Job summary

Hard Rock Ottawa Hotel & Casino is seeking a part-time, permanent Guest Service Associate to deliver friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced food hall. You will handle cash and various payment types, assist guests with food and beverage purchases, and maintain a clean workstation.

The role emphasizes strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to manage high transaction volumes while creating an exceptional guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Ability to stand or move for up to 8+ hours.
  • Must possess a valid Smart Serve certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario food handlers certificate or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Manage reservation system to retain guest preferences, pre-assigning seating when necessary.
  • Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest’s name when possible.
  • Escort guests to the tables and assist in seating at tables, present menus and extend pleasantries.
  • Offer a cordial farewell to every guest, thanking them for dining and invite them back.
  • Communicates constantly with management and service staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain positive relations with guests at all times.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of scheduled daily activities, in-house groups, daily house count, table/ seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code.
  • Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently.
  • Speak to guests’ and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language.
  • Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible.
  • Engage guests in conversation regarding their stay, property services, and area attractions/offerings.
  • Move and arrange tables, chairs, and settings and organize seating for groups with special needs with minimal amount of disturbance to other guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift.
  • Notify management of maintenance repair issues.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as request.

Responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service in a fast-paced food hall environment. Accurately processes cash, credit, debit, and mobile payment transactions while assisting guests with food and beverage purchases. Maintains a clean and organized workstation, answers customer inquiries, and supports daily food hall operations. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to handle high transaction volumes while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Performs duties which require bending & reaching. Standing or moving, for up to 8+ hours.
  • Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.
  • Maintains a well-groomed appearance.
  • Follows all uniform guidelines.
  • Practicing all general safety & sanitation standards.
  • Recycling products, where possible.
  • Remaining calm in a hectic, fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Demonstrating a high level of organization, attention-to-detail and a sense-of-urgency.
  • Displaying a positive and outwardly friendly attitude toward guests and co-workers.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment.
  • Must possess a valid smart serve certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario food handlers certificate or be willing to obtain one.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk distances.
  • The employee must frequently lift/push/pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a highly regulated and controlled environment, but there will be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor to complete job functions as outlined or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
