Job summary

Independent Grocers Alliance is hiring for a weekday cashier position in Canada. This part-time role offers day shifts with 10–30 hours per week and a focus on accurate checkout procedures and customer service.

Training is provided and opportunities for skill growth within store operations are highlighted. As a cashier, you will learn to operate the cash register system, process transactions, and maintain balance and accuracy at the till while delivering friendly, efficient service to customers

Qualifications

• Experience with cash register system.
• Willing to learn and adapt to this role.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Punch and/or scan merchandise as customers shop.
• Ensure price accuracy and process cancellations as needed.
• Handle cash, debit/cheques and deposits following procedures.
• Balance cash register and maintain productivity standards.

What might a typical day look like?

As a cashier, you will :

• punch and/or scan merchandise selected by the customer;
• ensure accuracy of prices punched/scanned and make cancellations according to established standards;
• handle cash and media (debit cards, cheques, etc.) and make deposits according to established policies;
• ensure the balance of the cash register and respect the productivity standards (sales/hours, punching/minute)
