Job summary

WCB Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta seeks a Case Manager to support injured workers through the claims and return-to-work process. You will manage a caseload, review medical information, assess entitlements, coordinate treatment and re-employment services, and communicate decisions clearly while upholding the Workers’ Compensation Act and policies in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Kinesiology, Rehabilitation or Disability Management is required.
• Related education in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Commerce or an equivalent combination may be considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in disability management, occupational health, vocational or medical rehabilitation.
• Experience managing a high caseload of complex cases and coordinating multi-party involvement.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex disability claims involving injured workers, employers and providers within timelines.
• Review medical information, legislation and policy to determine compensable workplace claims.
• Assess entitlement decisions for wage replacement benefits and communicate outcomes clearly.
• Interpret medical reports, coordinate or authorize medical treatment and ensure timely interventions.
• Evaluate return-to-work readiness and facilitate re-employment services for safe recovery and work readiness.
• Apply critical thinking to analyze information and make defensible decisions per policy.
• Navigate conflict with empathy, using de-escalation and negotiation skills.
• Deliver high-level customer service and educate clients while managing expectations.
• Uphold the Workers’ Compensation Act and related regulations.
