Job summary

Good Shepherd Centres in Hamilton, Ontario, is hiring a temporary full-time role lasting up to six months. The position runs 37.5 hours per week from Tuesday to Saturday, with day, afternoon and overnight shifts, paying 24.89 CAD per hour.

The successful candidate will provide housing support services, case management, crisis intervention and counseling, working independently in a values-based environment while maintaining client confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary education in a related field is required.
• Applicants should possess knowledge of issues impacting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals including violence, abuse, mental illness, homelessness, poverty and substance use.
• Experience working in a residential setting is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with Intake and Assessment.
• A commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity is essential.
• A post-secondary education is required.
• C.P.R. certification (or willingness to be certified).
• A valid Ontario driver's license (G) is also an asset.
• The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule.
• Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset.
• Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.
• Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a caseload.
• Complete an intake and assessment on each resident.
• Design, implement, in consultation with supervisor, an interview schedule that will provide an evaluation of "quality of life" improvement of successful program participants.
• Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records.
• Participate in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.

How You Will Make an Impact

The successful candidate will extend our mission to residential and non-residential clients through the provision of respectful and appropriate housing support services. This may include case management, crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding values-based environment.
