Job summary

Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services is seeking a full-time Service Worker to support First Nations children and families in Timmins, Ontario. The role involves coordinating transportation for appointments, maintaining accurate records, and providing culturally respectful services in alignment with agency values.

The successful candidate will hold a post-secondary diploma in a related field and demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides fair, equitable, respectful, and culturally relevant service to First Nations children and families, consistent with the organization’s values.
  • Arranges transportation for children to attend appointments, visits and court.
  • Ensures client records and case notes are up to date.
  • Transport children and youth to activities with on-time pick up/drop off.
  • Ensure safety of children during transport with approved caregivers.
  • Complete administrative functions and reports per agency policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and proper records.
  • Develop and maintain accurate work files.
  • Review progress with workers and report pertinent information.

Salary Range: $47,304.00 To $56,022.00 Annually

Whatyou willdointherole
  • Provides fair, equitable, respectful, and culturally relevant service to First Nations children and families, consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Kunuwanimano and subscribes to the organization’s values and complies with its’ By Law’s, Policies and Procedures.
  • Arranges transportation for children at home or in care to attend a variety of appointments, visits, meetings and/or court.
  • Ensures client records, documents, case recordings and case notes are up to date.
  • Transport children and youth to various scheduled activities, events, appointments and access visits while ensuring on time pick up and drop off times.
  • Ensure the safety of the children and youth when transporting to various activities by confirming a responsible adult (caregiver) is there to greet the child and reporting any changes of the drive to their worker.
  • Complete administrative functions, reports and adhere to Agency policies, procedures and relevant practices.
  • Ensure confidentiality and safe keeping of all Agency documents and records.
  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date and concise work files.
  • Review and report on progress or pertinent information observed or verbalized by the child or youth to their worker.
  • Work in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance records and travel expense claims.
  • Participates on a variety of internal committees and work teams as required.
  • Provides support to members of the service team during the investigation of allegations of child abuse and/or maltreatment inclusive of conducting thorough records checks.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and willing to assume duties as may be required or directed.

Whatyou brings the table
  • Post-secondary diploma in a related field (social service worker, child & youth worker, etc.); combination of education and experience within a human service environment may be considered.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to speak a First Nation language will be considered a major asset.
  • Must possess a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s licence, a reliable vehicle and $2 million rider liability insurance.
  • Must have a $2M auto liability insurance coverage.
  • Must produce clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Driver’s Abstract.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule as position may include some evenings and Saturdays.
