Job summary

PVNCCDSB’s Catholic Education Centre in Peterborough is seeking a General Carpenter for a long‑term supply assignment. The role involves constructing, erecting, and repairing walls, ceilings, shelving and portable structures, with duties spanning general maintenance and reporting.

The position requires an OSSD plus General Carpenter’s Certificate of Qualification, blueprint reading, ladder/scaffold work, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication with staff and the public.

Qualifications

• OSSD plus General Carpenter’s Certificate of Qualification.
• Knowledge of building maintenance and provincial standards.
• Ability to work from ladders/scaffolds and in confined areas.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints/drawings.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Use a variety of power and hand tools.
• Effective communication with staff, suppliers and public.

Responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install and repair walls, ceilings, flooring, portables, shelving, etc.
• Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to shelving, cabinets, etc.
• Carry out general maintenance duties.
• Estimate, requisition and/or purchase materials and equipment.
• Calculate elevations by use of transit.
• Maintain equipment and machinery.
• Maintain records and prepare reports as required.
• May perform custodial duties temporarily.
• Operate a motor vehicle.
• Other duties as assigned.
