Job summary

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company seeking experienced Carpenter Apprentices and Journeypersons to join our project teams in Manitoba. You will interpret drawings, prepare and install formwork, and construct with safety as a core value.

We reward reliability, teamwork, and the ability to work in all weather on busy sites; English fluency is required and the role includes potential mentorship from Journeypersons.

Qualifications

• Fall protection training required.
• Fluent in English.
• Able to lift up to 25 kg.
• Experience on industrial job sites.
• Engineered formwork experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications.
• Plan layouts, select materials, and measure.

Position Overview

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever-expanding project portfolios. ACSI is seeking experienced Carpenter Apprentices & Journeypersons who will be integral to our project’s success.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting and applying information found in drawings, specifications
• Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials).
• Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts.
• Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue.
• Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location.
• General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned.
• Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.

Requirements And Experience

• Fall Protection – In Class
• Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Engineered formwork experience would be considered an asset
• Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
• Manual dexterity
• Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds, ability to work at heights.
• The ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
• Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site

Candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen and/or criminal record check.
