Job summary

Clark Builders in Red Deer, AB is hiring Carpenters to support construction at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. You will construct foundations and concrete structures on a commercial site, following drawings and supervisor instructions.

The role reports to the foreman or superintendent and requires working with a team, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing carpentry services with minimal supervision. We offer competitive wages and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have 1st-4th year Apprenticeship or Journeyperson
• Concrete form work experience is required
• Experience in commercial/industrial construction is an asset

Responsibilities

• Erect/install and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades on commercial sites
• Build footings, walls, column forms, slab forms, and parapets
• Read and interpret drawings and/or receive instructions from a supervisor
• Carry out carpentry services including backing, blocking, framing, installation
• Install precast units, framing systems, sheathing, exterior trims and interior/exterior doors and hardware
• Execute work with minimal supervision while working with a team and other trades
• Maintain a clean construction site and daily task/hazard logs
• Represent Clark Builders professionally and adhere to policies

Position Description

Clark Builders is hiring Carpenters to work on the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. This role will be responsible for the safe construction of foundations and other concrete structures on a commercial site.

Reporting to:

Foreman or Superintendent

Duties And Responsibilities

• Erect/install and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites.
• Builds footings, walls, column forms, slab forms, and stair forms and parapets.
• Read and interpret drawings and/or receive instructions from a supervisor.
• Carry out a variety of carpentry services (including backing, blocking, framing, installation and other general carpentry.
• Installs precast units, framing systems sheathing, exterior trims, interior/exterior doors and hardware, windows, flooring, wall coverings, washroom accessories and architectural materials
• Execute work with minimal supervision while working alongside a team and other sub-trades to complete projects.
• Perform other construction related duties as assigned.
• Maintaining a clean construction site.
• Maintain a daily log of tasks and hazard assessment cards.
• Represent Clark Builders in a professional and respectful manner.
• Adhere to Clark Builders policies and procedures.

Skills And Knowledge

• The physical ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., as well as performing repetitive motions, bending, crouching and/or kneeling for long periods throughout the day.
• The capability to work outside in extreme weather conditions depending on the season.
• The ability to work long hours while completing repetitive tasks.
• 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th year Apprenticeship training or Journeyperson certificate.
• Must have concrete form work experience.

Qualifications

• Experience working in commercial/industrial construction is considered an asset.
• Valid first aid certificate an asset.
• Valid ESC Fall Protection, CSTS 2020 and WHMIS 2015 is an asset.
