Job summary

Cloud9 Construction in Summerside, PEI is seeking a skilled carpenter to join our on-site crew. The role requires reading blueprints, measuring, cutting, assembling materials, and supervising fellow workers.

Starting as soon as possible with 1 vacancy, 30-40 hours weekly, and a wage of $24.00 to $30.00 per hour. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of experience, a secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent, and the ability to instruct apprentices while coordinating site activities and

• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of carpentry experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings to determine work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Prepare tenders and quotations.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.
• Instruct apprentices
• Supervise other workers
• Estimate costs and materials
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
