Job summary

Inspiretci is seeking a skilled carpenter/woodwork machine operator to craft cabinets and fine wooden furniture to exact specifications. You will read drawings, operate CNC machines, and replicate past designs using hand tools while adhering to safety practices and quality standards.

The role requires knowledge of shop practices, material estimation, and the ability to work with others in a fast growing team, including lifting and operating various hand and power tools. Overtime may be available.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read building specs and orchestrate production schedules.

  • Attach fittings to finished cabinetry and construct structural woodwork.
  • Troubleshoot cabinet issues and propose solutions during production or installation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled carpenter/ woodwork machine operator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting wooden parts and other fine wooden furniture to detailed specifications. They will produce quality cabinets to specification by reading drawings/blueprints and replicating past designs using hand tools and woodworking machines while having a strong knowledge of shop practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, quality control and safety equipment. Dedication to quality craftsmanship and the possession of mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates are essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read blueprints, drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of different wood species and wood cores
  • Estimate and gather materials required for production by selecting the proper quality of wood to meet the requirements of the finished components
  • Use CNC machines, jigs, templates, rulers, assortment of clamps, measuring tapes and electronic equipment to accurately measure wood for cutting and shaping
  • Cut and detail wood for production.
  • Cut, drill, sand or plane materials for appropriate fit.
  • Ensure fittings and other hardware components are correct and of good quality.
  • Attach fittings and other components to finished cabinetry.
  • Construct and maintain structural woodwork, shelving, flooring, drawers, doors etc.
  • Problem solve and provide recommendations for cabinet issues that arise in production or during installations
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of Cabinetmaking experience
  • Knowledge of carpentry, zero tolerance to measurements
  • Experience with face frame construction is an asset
  • Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Effective verbal, written and listening communications skills.
  • Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, drawings and schematics.
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.
  • The candidate must be able to work well with others, take direction, and maintain a professional and positive attitude.
Work Conditions:
  • Ability to lift and carry objects 10-45 lbs
  • Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools.
  • Frequently noisy working environment.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Use of PPE, including safety glasses and steel toe boots required.
