WS & Company Ltd. in Canada is seeking a skilled carpenter to read blueprints, prepare layouts, and build structures on site. You will measure, cut, and fit wood and other materials, install windows and doors, and supervise apprentices as needed.
This permanent, full-time role requires 1–2 years of experience, physical conditioning for demanding work, and the ability to work with minimal supervision at our Coquitlam site. Salary is competitive in BC market; starts as soon as possible.
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Survey building locations and levels. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
