The Western Corp is seeking a skilled Carpenter for on-site construction teams in Calgary, Alberta. This role focuses on maintenance and renovation of residences and wooden structures across multiple sites.
You will read blueprints, prepare layouts, cut and assemble materials, install windows, doors, and roof systems, and ensure compliance with building codes. A secondary school diploma and 3–5 years of experience are expected, with a valid driver's licence.
Carpenter
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation.
Level of expertise: Maintenance and repair.
Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools.
Security and safety: Criminal record check.
Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling.
Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Safety glasses/goggles. Safety vest.
Personal suitability: Team player.
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years.
