Carmeuse Systems - Intermediate Electrical & Automation Designer

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare EI&C (Electrical, Instrumentation and Control) documentation including Control Panel Schematic, Instrument Block Diagram, Single Line Diagram, Logic Diagram, Control Narrative, etc., conforming to customer expectations and engineering standards.
  • Participate in project team meetings and discussions.
  • Collaborate with the project team to plan EI&C and related tasks for assigned projects.
  • Work closely with the EI&C Lead, coworkers, and project team to complete EI&C project documentation within timelines.
  • Design project-specific PLC and HMI programming following project or internal standards.
  • Review and design EI&C documentation to meet customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Research and select suitable components for control panel designs.
  • Support instrumentation selection and configuration.
  • Assist in preparing various project documents.
  • Complete shop electrical installations, factory acceptance testing, pre-commissioning, and components testing.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for site acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate on-site activities, guiding customer site personnel and trades to support project completion.
  • Prepare technical reports on site activities, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct on-site training for operations and maintenance staff.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with site personnel.
  • Uphold company policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, safety policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Degree as Engineering Technician or Technologist in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics; CET is an asset.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Multilingual skills are an asset.
Knowledge
  • Ability to read engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with EI&C design software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical) and programming software (Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk View, others).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and National Electrical Codes is an asset.
Work Environment
  • 37.5-hour workweek with potential additional hours.
  • Office and shop environment with hybrid work arrangements.
  • Travel up to 50% for project and customer site activities.
