- Planning and execution of the assigned projects, which range from small, packaged equipment to larger retrofit and capital projects.
- Interacting with customers to interpret their needs, requirements, and specifications.
- Preparing design plans in collaboration with the design team and/or team leads according to company’s Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
- Working with team leads to organize and monitor engineering tasks related to projects.
- Preparing documentation, drawings, or reports for submittal in accordance with applicable standards, specifications, and codes.
- Verifying documentation, calculations, equipment selection, drawings, and other documentation prepared by the engineering team.
- Preparing detailed design specifications for equipment vendors or contractors, verifying compliance, and resolving technical issues/conflicts.
- Providing technical guidance for the design team, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely, problem-free execution.
- Generating labor estimates and providing technical justification for design/scope changes.
- Working with applications/sales teams to provide design feedback, review specifications, and evaluate proposed schedules/timelines.
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting during installation, commissioning, and start-up of projects.
- Collaborating with the Manager of Project Engineering and/or team leads on design, process, and efficiency improvements, as well as creating and maintaining standard documents, templates, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Planning and executing projects ranging from small to large retrofit and capital projects.
- Interacting with customers to understand their needs and specifications.
- Preparing design plans with the team according to QMS procedures.
- Monitoring engineering tasks and preparing documentation for standards compliance.
- Verifying documentation and resolving technical conflicts.
- Providing technical guidance and support to ensure smooth project execution.
- Estimating labor and justifying scope or design changes.
- Collaborating with sales and field service teams for feedback and support.
- Supporting installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Working on process and efficiency improvements with management.
Minor/Occasional Duties:
- Conducting inspections and meetings at vendor and customer sites.
- Reviewing quality requirements for fabrication and assembly.
- Researching and developing equipment and systems, including evaluation and maintenance.
Basic Requirements
- 10-15 years of related experience (additional experience considered).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical science (Mechanical or Process engineering preferred).
- Membership in professional engineering associations is a plus.
Knowledge And Skills
- Ability to read engineering documents (process diagrams, drawings).
- Understanding of the engineering and construction lifecycle.
- Knowledge of North American standards for municipal, mining, and construction industries.
- Strong project management and contractual knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Microsoft Project is a plus.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAE software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
- Understanding fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Effective communication with vendors and troubleshooting skills.
