Job summary

Home Instead in Nanaimo is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide in-home support to aging adults. We offer flexible schedules, opportunities to grow your career, and rewarding work that enhances clients' lives.

Earn $21.00-$22.00 per hour with mornings, evenings, nights and weekends shifts. Responsibilities include personal care, daily living activities, meal prep, medication management, light housekeeping and companionship.

Qualifications

• A clear criminal background and vulnerable sector check.
• Reliable transportation to work.
• OFA First Aid Level 1 certification.
• FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent.
• Compassionate, reliable, and patient demeanor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Providing compassionate care to clients in their home setting.
• Assisting with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Medication management.
• Preparing meals and ensuring proper nutrition.
• Assisting with light housekeeping tasks.
• Monitoring and reporting changes in clients' health and well-being.
• Companionship and engaging in meaningful activities with client.

Requirements

• Valid completion of OFA First Aid Level 1 course
• Valid competition of FOODSAFE level 1 or equivalent
• Compassionate, reliable, and patient demeanor
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Assets

• Previous caregiving experience
• Valid certifications or training in caregiving, personal support work, or related fields.
• Valid BC drivers license
