Job summary

Coast seeks a Care Companion in Halifax, Nova Scotia to support residents with comfort, conversation, and companionship to promote wellbeing.

You will supervise residents, assist mobility, report safety concerns, and help maintain privacy and dignity in daily care. A high school diploma and clear record are required, with NVCI certification emphasized and training provided.

Qualifications

• Adaptability and calm in high-pressure environments.
• Strong observational skills to monitor resident wellbeing.
• NVCI certification is required or preferred.
• CCA and LPN students welcome to apply.
• Ex-CCA will be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide comfort items, sit with residents, and have purposeful conversations.
• Supervise residents at all times.
• Report safety issues or concerns related to residents.
• Escort residents around the facility in wheelchairs or assist with mobility.
• Intervene to prevent physical harm to residents.
• Promote a positive and safe environment in the facility.
• Maintain privacy and dignity of each resident.

8hours, 12 hour shifts, Casual, Day, evening and night shifts

Responsibilities:

• Provide items of comfort, sit with residents, and have purposeful conversations
• Supervise residents at all times
• Report on any issues or concerns related to the resident’s safety
• Escort residents around facility in wheelchairs and/or assist with mobility
• Intervene when needed to prevent physical harm to residents
• Promote a positive and safe environment for residents in the overall facility
• Maintain and assist with the privacy and dignity of each and every resident

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
• NVCI certification is Required
• Adaptability with an ability to act calmly and swiftly under pressure
• Strong observation skills
• Experience in geriatric is an asset
• Training and certification in crisis prevention or similar is an asset
• CCA and LPN Students are also welcome to apply
• Ex-CCA will also be considered for this position
