Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a Care Aide for Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong, BC. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under RN/LPN supervision, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care with a focus on independence.

This casual position offers flexible hours with rotating day/evening/night shifts. Prior Aide experience and active registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 10.
• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant / Health Care Aide Program.
• Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker registry (active number).

Responsibilities

• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment.
• Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration.
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition.
• Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities.
• Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks.

About the Job

As the Care Aide you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, who provide care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of RN’s and LPN’s, Care Aide’s have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.

Typical duties include:

• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
• Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
• Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
• Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days, evenings, and nights rotating from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00, and 23:00 to 07:00 hours.
