Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a Care Aide to join the Long-term Care team at Orchard Haven in Keremeos, BC. The role supports a multidisciplinary team, under RN/LPN supervision, to address each resident's physical, emotional, and social needs, promoting independence.

The Casual position offers flexible hours in a fast-paced environment within a close-knit community in Keremeos, with benefits and opportunities for training and growth.

Qualifications

• Casual position with hours as needed (0–37.5 per week).
• Care Aide works under RN/LPN guidance.
• Experience in long-term care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Support mobility, transfers and related equipment.
• Perform nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and assist with housekeeping tasks.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition and behavior.
• Provide companionship during outings and social activities.
• Support clerical duties and delegated tasks as needed.

About The Job

As the Care Aide you will work as an integral part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, who provide care and support in a long-term care setting. Working under the direction of RN’s and LPN’s, Care Aide’s have key responsibilities in the individual care plan for each patient, ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are supported, while promoting maximum independence.

Typical Duties Include

• Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assisting with mobility, transfers and related equipment
• Performing nursing procedures such as taking temperature, pulse and respiration
• Housekeeping activities relating to maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and condition
• Accompanying clients on outings and during social activities
• Performing clerical duties and delegated tasks

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.
