Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Community Health Worker to join the Castlegar Home Support team in Castlegar, BC. You will work with nurses and LPNs to support clients’ independence and home-based care, performing personal care and daily living tasks while promoting dignity and safety.

The role is a relief part-time position until October 15, 2027, with evening shifts from 13:00 to 19:00. Castlegar offers a vibrant生活 and access to outdoor activities in BC.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Home Support Worker program or equivalent.
  • BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker registry (include registry number).
  • Current valid BC Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home support services including personal care and daily living assistance.
  • Assist with household duties to maintain a safe and healthy home environment.
  • Prepare meals according to designated plans.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers.
  • Observe and report changes in client behaviour and condition.
  • Perform delegated tasks per training and procedures.

About the Job

As a Community Health Worker, you will work as part of a dynamic team of Nurses and LPNs who support Community Clients’ independence and ability to stay at home. Community Health Workers provide home support services to clients, by assisting with personal care and daily living, while promoting maximum independence. Community Health Workers are key players in the home health care plan for each client.

Typical duties include:

  • Activities of daily personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene
  • Household duties related to maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Meal preparation in accordance with designated plans
  • Assistance with mobility and transfers
  • Observing and reporting changes in client behaviour and condition
  • Performing delegated tasks according with training and procedures
This is a Relief Part Time (0.51) opportunity until October 15, 2027 or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled evenings rotating from 13:00 to 19:00 hours.

Qualfications
  • Grade 12
  • Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Home Support Worker Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience
  • BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker registry (please include your number)
  • Current valid BC Drivers’ License and use of a reliable vehicle
