Job summary

Northern Health in Kitimat, BC is seeking a dedicated Home Support Attendant to help clients stay in their homes and maintain independence within the community. Under supervision, you will provide daily living assistance such as bathing, grooming, meal planning and light household tasks, following a pre-established care plan.

Registration with BC Care Aid Registry is required. Successful candidates will have a Class 5 BC driver's license and CPR/First Aid certifications, with a commitment to

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/ Resident Care Aid Program.
• Registration with the BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
• Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
• Use of personal vehicle.
• Or equivalent combination of current education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide home support services per care plan, assisting with activities of daily living.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, oral hygiene and meal planning/preparation.
• Perform delegated tasks after completing task training.
• Promote well-being and independent living in the community.
• Collaborate with care team to monitor client status and report changes.

Position Summary

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position provides home support services to clients in accordance with a pre-established care plan. Assists with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, planning and preparing meals while promoting maximum independence. Performs delegated tasks for which delegation of tasks training has been completed. A key component of this job is to ensure the well-being of individuals and families and to promote independent living while in the community.

Must have current registration with the BC Care Aide Registry
