Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with 6–8 years of hands-on expertise in mainframe technologies and solid knowledge of card issuing domain processes. The ideal candidate will be proficient in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and Unix scripting, with a strong understanding of Agile practices and full SDLC execution.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in mainframe systems.
• Optimize mainframe applications for performance, stability, and efficiency.
• Support testing cycles, including defect triage and resolution.
• Participate in release management and deployment activities.

Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance

• Provide technical solutions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, including technical specs and functional designs.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with business analysts, QA teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
• Translate business needs into effective technical solutions aligned with domain requirements.
• Support and mentor junior team members and contribute to team productivity improvements.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and continuously improve development processes.

Domain Expertise

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Cards domain (Issuing).
• Understand end-to-end Card lifecycle processes and how mainframe applications support them.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies.
• Recommend innovative ideas to improve system performance, processes, and development practices.

Required Skills

• 6–8 years of experience in Mainframe development.
• Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.65/hour - $44.77/hour. Our offered benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
