As the Cardiology Technologist I for the ACH Cardiology Clinic, you are a member of the Cardiology multi-disciplinary team and play an integral role in diagnostic testing within the Cardiology Department. You will be responsible for performing non-invasive cardiac testing for the Neonatal and Pediatric population in both inpatient and outpatient departments at the Alberta Children's Hospital. The Cardiology Technologist I is a pivotal member of the health care team, and you will have the opportunity to utilize your excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills to support optimal outcomes for your patient population. You will be expected to contribute to clinic process improvement and maintain professional practice including, but not limited to, ongoing professional development, encouragement of a positive and supportive work environment, and demonstration of accountability. In addition, you will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: ability to be self-directed and exercise independent decision making and critical thinking skills; ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and effectively resolve conflict; ability to interact collaboratively and positively with staff, physicians, and the entire health care team to optimize the delivery of safe quality patient care; and ability to advocate effectively for patients and integrate patient and family centered care principles within your own practice.
As a Cardiology Technologist I, you will prepare patients for non-invasive cardiac testing to investigate abnormalities and level of cardiac function, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing, and Ambulatory Monitoring. You will explain procedures, educate patients on equipment function, and collect patient history for procedures, documenting information for physicians. You will analyze and summarize test results, generate reports for physician interpretation, and ensure proper setup, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment. You will also be required to implement resuscitation measures when necessary. Additionally, you will precept and orient new staff and students, provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees and students, and serve as a clinical resource regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.
The position is classified as HSAA Facility PROF/TECH, located at the Alberta Children's Hospital, with a FTE of 0.40. The role is temporary, with a start date of June 9, 2025, and an end date of May 22, 2026. The work schedule includes shifts of 7.75 hours, four days per cycle, primarily days, with days off as per rotation. The salary ranges from $31.13 to $40.38 per hour. The position does not require a vehicle.
Completion of a certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology; active or eligible registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologists (ASRCT); active or eligible registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT); and current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Clinical experience in Holter monitoring, exercise stress testing, and electrocardiography within the last 12 months.
Neonatal and pediatric experience or student practicum experience with this population.
