Job summary

Interior Health invites applications for a Relief Full-Time Cardiology Services Clerk at Kelowna General Hospital. The role supports the Diagnostic Cardiology department with patient registration, scheduling, and clerical tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Hours are days, 07:00 to 15:00. Applicants should have Grade 12, Medical Terminology training, and a 45 wpm typing test. Relevant experience and strong organization are essential for success.

Responsibilities

  • Patient registration.
  • Scheduling and communicating appointment information to staff, patients, physicians' offices and nursing units.
  • Ensures forms and documentation are available for cardiac testing.
  • Reception duties—answering phones, messages, visitors, mail.
  • Prepares registration/billing forms.
  • Types documents including medical reports and memos.
  • Arranges meetings and transcribes minutes.

Kelowna General Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Relief Full-Time Cardiology Services Clerk to become an integral member of our Cardiology Services team. Job duties

This position performs a variety of clerical duties related to the work of the Diagnostic Cardiology department, such as:

  • Patient registration.
  • Scheduling, booking and communicating appointment information to Diagnostic Cardiology staff, patients, physicians' offices and/or nursing units.
  • Ensures pertinent forms and documentation are available for cardiac testing.
  • Reception duties - answering telephones, receiving and relaying messages, receiving and directing visitors, distributes incoming and out-going mail.
  • Completes a variety of standard forms for registration/billing purposes.
  • Types a variety of documents – medical reports, memorandums, letters, minutes, education documents, presentations, statistical tables and financial information.
  • Arranges meetings - books meeting rooms, types and distributes agendas, transcribes minutes and notes of meetings and disseminates.

  • A 5-minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted).
  • A Medical Terminology Certificate
  • Your Resume outlining two year’s recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week).

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Grade 12,
  • Medical Terminology course, Plus
  • Two year’s recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Completion of a Typing Test 45 wpm or greater, dated within the past 48 months and must be issued from a valid institution only. (non-supervised tests not accepted)
