Job summary

Medcan in Oakville is seeking a skilled Echo Sonographer to join our clinic located at 2275 Upper Middle Road E. The role covers room preparation, performing echo exams, and coordinating with the care team during regular clinic hours. There is travel to downtown Toronto for training in Echo, CIMT and FibroScan.

Minimum requirements include a post-diploma Echocardiography program completion, at least one year of experience, and a CMRITO certification. CIMT and FibroScan experience are an asset.

• CMRITO Specialty certification for Echocardiography is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of Echo Sonographer experience.

Responsibilities

This is a full-time role scheduled Monday to Saturday during regular clinic hours (6:30am - 6pm) for an 8.5 hour shift at our Oakville clinic.

Our Oakville clinic is located at 2275 Upper Middle Road E. There is free parking on site.

There will be a requirement to travel to our downtown Toronto clinic early on for training in Echo, CIMT and FibroScans.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct echo sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
• Perform Resting Echo Scans, Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScans for patients.
• Reviews patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
• Ensures that the order (or standing order) is complete and contains relevant information.
• Evaluates any contraindications or insufficient patient preparation and obtains patient’s consent to the exam.
• Uses proper positioning tools, devices or equipment adjustment, both for patient comfort and ergonomics of the sonographer.
• Applies independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic echo sonography procedure(s), and documents all findings.
• Operates the PACS as needed so that the reporting physician may report findings.
• As necessary, acquires additional images to provide a thorough exam, and documents any limitations to the exam.
• Performs quality control procedures and exercises caution to ensure that the equipment operates at optimal levels.
• Ensures that the echo sonography examination results meet the facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Assists with facilitating the flow of patients through the Clinic
• Coordinates with other clinic staff to ensure exceptional delivery of service and client experience
• Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with co-workers, administrators and members of the health care team.
• Other client service or administrative functions as-needed

What You’ll Need:

• Completion of a recognized post diploma Echocardiography program
• At least one year of recent experience as an Echo Sonographer
• CMRITO Specialty certification for Echocardiography
• Experience with Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScan an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in MS Word and Outlook and PACS

Position Pay Range

$73,699.00 - $101,335.00 CAD annually

Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications within the role’s compensation grade. Medcan’s compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives.
