Job summary

Medcan in Oakville, Ontario is seeking a part-time sonographer to support ultrasound examinations. The role involves preparing exam rooms, reviewing history, conducting abdominal, breast, transvaginal and transrectal ultrasound studies, while maintaining equipment and ensuring quality.

The ideal candidate is ARDMS-certified, a member of CMRITO, and possesses strong communication skills. This position offers 2–3 days per week with on-site parking.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a sonographer performing examinations such as abdominal exams.
• Breast, transvaginal and transrectal experience is an asset.
• Member of the CMRITO and Ultrasound ARDMS certification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations following infection control, sterilization and safety protocols.
• Review patient medical history, evaluate contraindications, obtain patient consent and document findings.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment and perform basic quality control checks.
• Ensure sonography results meet facility quality standards.
• Coordinate with cross-functional clinic teams to ensure exceptional service and client experience.
• Operate PACS as needed so reporting physician can review findings.

This job is for a current vacancy. This is a part-time role scheduled Monday to Saturday for 2-3 days per week based on clinic needs and mutual availability. Our Oakville clinic is located at 2275 Upper Middle Road E. There is free parking available on site!

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
• Review patient medical history, evaluate contraindications, obtain patient consent, perform required ultrasound examinations and document findings.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment and basic quality control checks.
• Ensure sonography exam results meet facility standards for quality assurance.
• Coordinate with cross functional clinic teams to ensure exceptional service and client experience.
• Operates the PACS as needed so that the reporting physician may report findings.

What You’ll Need:

• 1+ years of experience as a sonographer performing examinations such as abdominal exams
• Breast, transvaginal and transrectal experience an asset

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Position Pay Range:

$35.43 - $48.72 CAD per hour Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications within the role's compensation grade. Medcan's compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives.
