The role focuses on performing echo examinations and related imaging with attention to patient safety and quality care. The ideal candidate will have completion of a recognized post-diploma Echocardiography program, at least one year of experience, and CMRITO Echocardiography certification; proficiency with PACS, MS Word and Outlook is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized post diploma Echocardiography program.
• At least one year of recent experience as an Echo Sonographer.
• CMRITO Specialty certification for Echocardiography is preferred.
• Experience with Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScan is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Word and Outlook and PACS.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct echo sonography examinations.
• Performs Resting Echo Scans, CIMT and FibroScans for patients.
• Reviews patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
• Ensures that the order is complete and contains relevant information.
• Evaluates contraindications or insufficient patient preparation and obtains consent.
• Operates PACS and assists the reporting physician with findings.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality and supports clinic flow.

We are seeking an experienced and client focused professional with a great attitude, time management and superior organization skills.

What You'll Do:

• Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct echo sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
• Perform Resting Echo Scans, Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScans for patients.
• Reviews patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
• Ensures that the order (or standing order) is complete and contains relevant information.
• Evaluates any contraindications or insufficient patient preparation and obtains patient’s consent to the exam.
• Uses proper positioning tools, devices or equipment adjustment, both for patient comfort and ergonomics of the sonographer.
• Applies independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic echo sonography procedure(s), and documents all findings.
• Operates the PACS as needed so that the reporting physician may report findings.
• As necessary, acquires additional images to provide a thorough exam, and documents any limitations to the exam.
• Performs quality control procedures and exercises caution to ensure that the equipment operates at optimal levels.
• Ensures that the echo sonography examination results meet the facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Assists with facilitating the flow of patients through the Clinic
• Coordinates with other clinic staff to ensure exceptional delivery of service and client experience
• Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with co-workers, administrators and members of the health care team.
• Other client service or administrative functions as-needed

What You'll Need:

Completion of a recognized post diploma Echocardiography program At least one year of recent experience as an Echo Sonographer CMRITO Specialty certification for Echocardiography Experience with Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScan an asset Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in MS Word and Outlook and PACS This is a full-time role scheduled Monday to Saturday during regular clinic hours (6:30am - 6pm) for an 8.5 hour shift at our Markham clinic. Our Oakville clinic is located at 600 Cochrane Dr, Markham, ON L3R 5K3 . There will be a requirement to travel to our downtown Toronto clinic early on for training in Echo, CIMT and FibroScans. Position Pay Range $73,699.00 - $101,335.00 CAD annually Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications within the role's compensation grade. Medcan's compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives.
