Job summary

Purpose of the job:
  • Monitoring, operating and maintaining the production equipment of the RAIN Technology Innovation Center Energy Storage Materials in Hamilton.
  • Ensure efficient and effective production of high‑quality graphite anode materials for lithium‑ion batteries.
  • Optimize production processes to maintain high standards of product quality.
  • Leverage expertise in graphite processing, equipment maintenance, quality control, and safety practices in the Technology Innovation Center for carbonaceous energy storage materials.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor machinery and equipment involved in the production of battery anode materials (carbon black powder), including milling/griding, mixing, coating, heating, and adjacent processes.
  • Perform routine process checks and troubleshooting to ensure optimal production and resolve any operational issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols, plant policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Collect and analyze data from the production process to assess quality, performance, and efficiency, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Assist in the setup and calibration of production equipment to meet daily production goals.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and ensure smooth operations.
  • Support the quality control process by conducting inspections, performing tests, and assisting in corrective actions as necessary.
  • Document production activities, maintenance logs, and any incidents in accordance with company procedures.
  • Collaborate with other team members, engineers, and supervisors to identify process improvements and optimize production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process issues quickly to minimize production delays.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices for process efficiency.
  • Desirable knowledge to drive forklift – license required (or willing to obtain the certification).
  • Must have knowledge of 5S process and lean manufacturing.
  • Must be able to bend, twist and lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work extra hours and weekends (mandatory).
  • Must be able to work rotating shift schedule (8hrs to 12hrs) when required.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).
Job requirements:
  • Diploma or associate's degree or technical certification preferred.
  • At least two years of experience working in a production environment, preferably in battery materials, chemicals, or similar fields with experience in operating carbon powder processing, preferably in research or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes, machinery, and safety protocols. Uphold good standards on EHS topics.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standardized operating procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self‑sufficient.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to report clearly on issues and progress.
  • Fluent professional command of oral and written English; knowledge of Chinese language would be an advantage.
