Job summary

Sunwest is seeking a Captain to lead operations in the XLS56 fleet from Canada. You will exercise PIC authority, maintain safety standards, and uphold our SMS framework while delivering exceptional customer service on each leg.

Ideal candidates hold an ATPL with Instrument Rating, a current PPC, and substantial flight hours including PIC and multi-engine time. A strong safety culture and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • ATPL and Instrument Rating required.
  • Type rating as required for XLS56; PPC and currency current.
  • Minimum 3,200 hours total time; 1,700 hours PIC; 2,000 hours multi-engine; 1,450 hours multi-PIC; 200 hours jet time.
  • Time on type preferred; strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven decision-making, problem-solving, organization and time management.
  • Commitment to safety culture and SMS compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise Pilot-in-Command authority for the XLS56 aircraft.

  • Maintain situational awareness, CRM, and decision-making on every flight.

Job description

The opportunity

As Captain, you’ll take the left seat in our XLS56 fleet, delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused charter operations. You’ll be the standard-bearer for professionalism on every leg—balancing operational discipline with a service mindset that keeps our clients returning.

What you'll do
  • Exercise Pilot-in-Command authority and perform all duties required on the assigned aircraft within the XLS56 grouping.
  • Operate to the highest safety standards in accordance with company policies, Transport Canada requirements, and CARs.
  • Follow Sunwest’s Safety Management System (SMS) and meet all safety accountabilities.
  • Maintain exceptional situational awareness, decision-making, and crew resource management on every flight.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot or Deputy Chief Pilot.
Schedule & operations
  • 24-hour call-out model: you remain on days off until required to report.
  • Receive trip briefs at least 24 hours prior to planned departures.
  • Option to accept short-notice trips (<24 hours) for additional call-out pay.
  • Check your mobile phone or email at least once every 24 hours for trip notices.
What you bring
  • Valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) and valid Instrument Rating.
  • Type rating as required by the aircraft; valid PPC and currency for an aeroplane in the applicable grouping.
  • Minimum experience: 3,200 hours total time; 1,700 hours PIC; 2,000 hours multi-engine; 1,450 hours multi-PIC; 200 hours jet time.
  • Time on type preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven decision-making, problem-solving, organization, and time-management abilities.
  • Commitment to safety culture and adherence to SMS requirements.
  • Personality profiling required for candidates advancing to interview.
