Job description

We’re looking for an Underwriter to join our global Lightspeed Capital team. You will be responsible for all aspects of underwriting, boarding, and risk. You will be the primary point of contact for merchants throughout the entire Capital lifecycle, supporting them from eligibility through funding and repayment. Your role is crucial in a fast-growing team and program, contributing to a mission-critical Lightspeed initiative.

What you’ll be doing :

• Conduct due diligence and review new merchant applications thoroughly, making funding recommendations;
• Validate all documents provided with applications using online resources;
• Review and analyze credit and business reports of new, pending merchants to assess potential liabilities;
• Communicate underwriting decisions to merchant account managers and coordinate clarifications for applications requiring further review;
• Board applications and advances in our system, creating custom contracts as needed;
• Advocate for the Lightspeed Capital program both internally and to customers;
• Help merchants understand the program, benefits, process, and requirements.

What you need to bring :

Our team consists of 8 members located globally.

We’re seeking candidates with experience in :

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English;
• Knowledge of payments, financial statements, and banking industry;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks;
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment;
• Adaptability to changing priorities and challenges;
• Strong empathy and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Even better if you have, but not necessary :

• Background in finance;
• Experience working with global teams;
• Experience with data entry;
• Fluent communication in French.
