The Job You Will Perform :
- Design of facility and pipeline mechanical systems, including equipment sizing, selection, piping design, layout, and construction.
- Perform detailed mechanical engineering work for projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and complete mechanical design requests.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and legal requirements.
- Adhere to all mechanical engineering standards.
- Provide technical support for the pulp mill.
- Maintain current control documents; familiar with isometrics and process flow diagrams.
- Ensure mechanical standards (rotating equipment, piping, pressure vessels, tanks) are current and accessible.
- Support process safety engineering initiatives.
- Prepare design notes, calculations, and specifications.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to develop P&IDs and piping drawings.
- Prepare lists of lines, valves, tie-ins, and specialty items.
- Create work packages for field and construction teams.
- Contribute to operability, constructability, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Ensure high-quality technical content in engineering deliverables.
- Assist in satisfying regulatory applications and standards.
Project Duties :
- Manage and deliver multiple projects with excellence, following the project delivery process.
- Identify staffing needs to ensure safety, schedule, quality, cost control, procurement, change management, adherence to standards, construction, commissioning, startup, and documentation.
- Coordinate project development with regional engineering and multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead project value-improvement sessions.
- Prepare data sheets, specifications, and RFPs for equipment procurement.
- Work with procurement to purchase and expedite equipment.
- Review vendor drawings and documentation.
- Oversee inspection and quality control for fabricated equipment.
- Manage project construction phases safely.
The Skills You Will Bring :
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with 5-10 years of experience. Registered Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer with APEGA, capable of stamping drawings or working towards this.
- Experience in conceptual, front-end, and detailed process piping engineering, familiarity with ASME piping and boiler codes, Alberta Boilers Branch standards, and registration processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SAP.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong technical competence and attention to detail.
- Consideration given to Registered Engineering Technologists with a strong project background and industrial experience, especially in pulp and paper industries.
- Ability to facilitate planning, maintenance outages, prioritize, manage conflicts, build teams, and solve problems within budget constraints.
