Job Purpose and Impact

The Capital Project Engineer will focus on optimizing interconnected components of a manufacturing system. The role involves applying regulatory and company standards, providing advice across mechanical and production engineering disciplines, coordinating plant facilities, personnel workflow, material logistics, production processes, and equipment layouts. A key focus is contractor management, understanding technical standards to ensure safe execution and commissioning of projects.

Key Accountabilities

• Design equipment and process improvements focusing on safe & efficient production.
• Solve moderately complex issues independently, escalating more complex issues appropriately.
• Present options to management, manage quotes during project scoping, present approval packages.
• Coordinate with technical trades such as millwrights, plumbers, and electricians during construction and commissioning.
• Partner with production during commissioning, adopting an owner’s mindset for optimal results.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• At least two years of related experience in food manufacturing, focused on project management across multiple contractor disciplines or capital and process engineering roles.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor conditions associated with food production.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience dealing with Ontario regulatory bodies (Electrical Safety Authority, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Environment).
