A leading company is seeking a Senior Counsel to support legal and compliance requirements by providing expert legal advice and managing complex transactions. This role aims to develop best practices within the Legal team and requires significant experience in health law and corporate regulations. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful negotiation and the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional efforts while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Position Summary... Senior Counsel supports the legal and compliance requirements of the business by providing expert legal advice, managing complex transactions, and developing best practices within the Legal team. This role may also involve leading cross-functional initiatives and educating internal stakeholders on legal matters.
What you'll do...Senior Counsel creates and builds capabilities within the Legal team for a specific area of legal expertise, ensuring significant cross-functional impact. This role involves setting and achieving clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for the legal domain, while staying current with legislative, legal, and regulatory changes. Regular updates, summaries, and analyses of these changes are provided to key stakeholders.
The position may involve planning, developing, and delivering internal education to the Legal team and broader business on specialized legal areas. This includes developing a comprehensive knowledge bank of training materials and related documentation. Senior Counsel builds best-in-class processes and templates to mitigate risk, reduce costs, and improve efficiency..
Senior Counsel manages and completes complex legal transactions, negotiates and drafts intricate legal agreements, and provides ongoing legal advice to business units. Additionally, the position supports cross-functional initiatives through the provision of legal and business advice, effectively managing external counsel when engaged.
Educating and training business units on legal and compliance requirements is a key responsibility, often conducted in partnership with business stakeholders and compliance teams. Senior Counsel identifies and implements efficient ways of working both within and outside the legal department, ensuring alignment on overall legal strategies and approaches.
